Early Birthday Dinner & Egg Waffles

Today marked the beginning of birthday celebrations! At 7pm, my exchange friends and I met up for dinner in Tsim Sha Tsui at Sun Thai Restaurant. We were celebrating multiple late April/early May birthdays and also said farewell to one of our friends returning to Japan the next day. Since our table was quite large, we got to share a more private setting with three other big tables. It was good to be able to see everyone after we had all been locked in studying for final exams. While some had already finished with exams, there were a few of us who still had one or two left and definitely enjoyed the evening study break. We finished dinner with a surprise birthday cake that my friends had picked up for birthday me and the birthday boy. I’m not sure if it’s common for locals in Hong Kong to sing happy birthday in restaurants, but we definitely made it happen!

After cake, we walked around the block to Mammy Pancake for more dessert. I actually hadn’t been taking advantage of all the egg waffle shops since my first egg waffle back in January, so I was excited to this Michelin Guide recommended street food. It did not disappoint. I was very happy with my Earl Grey chocolate chip egg waffle 🙂
