Mr Wong’s

A huge group of exchange students and I went out to Mong Kok and ate a small restaurant called Mr. Wong’s (I found the Trip Advisor reviews post hoc), who was quite lively and a bit tipsy. It was 80 HKD (about 10 USD) for all you can eat and all you can drink. He met us at the front door, asked each of us where we were from, seated us in the tight space, and started rattling off a long list of dishes that would keep us full for the rest of the night. He then disappeared and came back with a crate full of beers. This happened at least five times during dinner. The food wasn’t bad and people started getting hilariously drunk about an hour in. After sitting with us and telling us stories of how Trump ate 6 of the 56 states (something must have been lost in translation), Mr. Wong brought out his MAGA hat and proudly donned it for our group picture.

I had my first day of classes on Monday and was surprised at how much the students talked while the professor was lecturing. I found it distracting. My evening class was Perspectives in Human Sexuality and sounded promising, based on the first lecture. However, when the professor asked the class questions, no one answered. I admit that the topics we discussed were a bit taboo, but it was disappointing that the class went quiet. I guess no one wanted to be the one to raise their hand and say “orgasm.” After class, I made a friend from Sweden and we decided to break the ice next time by answering the professor’s questions, no matter how awkward the answer might be.
