After visiting the Koon Chun Soy Sauce Factory, my friends and I piled into the bus and we headed to the Ping Shan Heritage Trail. I was relieved to be with other exchange students on a bus after what had happened earlier that morning.

The Ping Shan Heritage Trail commemorates several well-preserved historic buildings of the Tang Clan, built during the Yuan dynasty (1271-1368). Two of the most notable buildings on the trail were ancestral halls, used for ancestral worship, celebrations, and ceremonies. The older of the two, Tang Ancestral Hall, was built in 1273 and is a three-hall structure with two internal courtyards. The elevated red sandstone pathway indicated that one of the Tang clansmen once held a high-ranking position in the imperial government.

Further down the street is the Kun Ting Study Hall and Ching Shu Hin, a guesthouse for visiting scholars from mainland China. Decorated with carved wooden panels, plaster moldings, and arched doorways, these two buildings were fun to explore. My friends and I found a creepy study room with a broken mirror in it and a door that led to nowhere.
